Beacon House
Built at the turn of last century, The Beacon House stands above a natural promontory ‘The Street’ that stretches out to sea half a mile or so at low tide. The beacon, which stood in its garden, warned sailors of the perils below. The house has a New England feel to it with its wide wooden frontage, distinctive verandah and wrap-around decking. Many original features remain: the tongue and groove finish in the kitchen; arts and crafts sitting room with open fireplace and doors leading out to the deck and the beach; panelled wooden staircase leading to galleried hall; five bedrooms and study all with extensive sea views.The Beacon House is minutes from The Hotel Continental and close to Whitstable’s culinary delights, quirky shops, swimming pool, yacht club and harbour. The Beacon House has been featured in The Observer, The New York Times and Vogue and has been the setting for numerous fashion, lifestyle, interiors and food photo shoots as well as a short film by The National Gallery.

Surrounded by ornamental lakes and gardens, Preston Court has many eclectic features including 17th century barnyard, beautiful vintage mechanical organs, carousel rides and steam engines, as well as a unique, magical moated island. The Night Yard
Our venue is unique; it’s not a bar, it’s not a field, it is The Night Yard!
It is a cloistered barn around a huge grass courtyard, which is sited in a tranquil part of the farm surrounded by apple trees and a wild flower meadow. The farm, which has been in the family since 1928, no longer houses a dairy herd, but forms the perfect backdrop for a countryside wedding, whilst still being just moments off the A2.
The venue was sympathetically refurbished in 2014; keeping some of the quintessential features such as the old hay feeders, wooden barn doors and Kent peg tiled roof. Our lovely vintage red tractor, ‘Bertie’, is still in residence providing one of the many great photo opportunities.
The Night Yard is a venue with most of the necessities (and some extras) needed for a fabulous day all included in the price.
The Old Kent Barn
The Old Kent Barn is a passionate family business striving to offer the very best facilities and a first class personal service.
Originally a three bedroom Bed & Breakfast run by Hilary and Roger Simmons the venue was transformed into an events and wedding venue when their daughter Claire Weedon and their son-in-law Will Weedon joined in 2006. In fact it was Claire and Will’s wedding reception at the Barn in 2005 that gave the four family members the idea to put all their talents together and run a wedding venue. Now in it’s 12th year The Old Kent Barn is a multi award winning venue with a passionate team of staff; a team dedicated to making it the perfect place to say ‘I Do’.
